So what's Bummit?

Bummit is a hitch hike across Europe to raise money for charity. We are part of the University of Sheffield Union of Students and part of SheffieldRag.

It all started 8 years ago with some people from SheffieldRag hitch-hiking to Bognor Regis for charity. The next year they went further afield to Budapest, then to Bucharest. In 2006 the trip was doubled to allow 300 people to hitch, split between 2 trips, and this was to The Baltics (Riga). Two years ago we went to Tallinn and raised £64,000 for our nominated charities.

Last year we travelled to Budapest in Hungary!

****  Please Note!!! ****

Registering with this mailinglist DOES NOT get you a place on bummit. This mailinglist is to keep up to date with the latest Bummit News and Sign-up information. Still very useful, but for a place you do need to sign-up separately on the website when sign-up goes live later in the year.

When is it?

Easter Holidays 2011. The trip is split into two trips, Trip 1 and Trip 2. The exact dates for both of these trips will be released at a later date.

What's the aim?

The aim is to get to the final destination; to be announced, on a £15 transport budget, one week, two stops and 350 super cool hitchers!

We hitch hike in teams of 2 or 3 with a minimum of one boy in each team for safety. We also have a tried and tested safety system for anyone worried!

How do I sign up?

Each applicant will have to pay a £75 registration fee which covers our administration costs, insurance, a party and one nights accommodation in both the halfway city and our final city destination. You will also receive the fabled Bummit pack which includes your assorted goodies for the trip as well as the essential Bummit Bible.

Each applicant will, at the time of paying registration fees, also have to submit two cheques to cover the sponsorship amount. These will only be cashed if you do not meet the required sponsorship in time.

Sign-up is done online through www.bummit.co.uk .
Applications will be going live on the website in  Late November  so keep checking for confirmation of the sign up date!
